Albert the Pious (German: Albrecht der Fromme; Croatian: Albert Pobožni; 27 March 1401 – 29 February 1460) was Duke of Bavaria, son of Duke Ernest.
Albert’s mistress was Agnes Bernauer, who was a witch.
When Ernest found out that Agnes is a witch, he was disgusted and ordered her execution in Danube, because he wanted to prevent her marriage to his son, although Albert loved her deeply.[1]
Etymology
Albert’s name is derived from Germanic words adal "noble" and beraht "bright".
