The Jews, also known as the Jewish people, are an ethnoreligious group originating from the Historical Israelites of the Ancient Near East.

According to Jewish tradition, Jewish ancestry is traced back to the Biblical patriarchs such as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the Biblical matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Leah, and Rachel, who lived in Canaan.

There were many Jews in Miter during the Middle Ages.[1]

Prejudice against, hatred of, or discrimination against Jews as a national, ethnic, religious or racial group is called antisemitism.
